Anita Pernell-Arnold

Mrs. Pernell-Arnold received a BA in psychology from Brooklyn College, NY and an MSSW in social work from Columbia, University, NY.
Mrs. Pernell-Arnold is the co-founder, with Ione Vargus PhD, Dean Emeritus, Temple University, of the PRIME Institute, at Drexel University, School of Medicine, Dept of Psychiatry, Behavioral Health Education Division, formerly known as Multicultural Training and Research Institute, at Temple University. Mrs. Pernell-Arnold is a past President of the Board of Directors of USPRA, formerly known as IAPSRS. She was the Co-Chair of the Certification and Training committee that was responsible for the development of the current CPRP Certification program. Mrs. Pernell-Arnold has been elected as a Founding Fellow of USPRA, 2009. Mrs. Pernell-Arnold was the Training Director for the PRIME SAMHSA Federal Grant. Mrs Pernell-Arnold was the director of Murtis H. Taylor Multi-Services Center ( a community mental health center and a settlement house) in Cleveland and the Director of the Office of Mental Health in the Office of Mental Health and Mental Retardation Services for the City of Philadelphia. Mrs Pernell-Arnold has been affiliated with Temple University, School of Social Administration and the Hunter College Social of Social Work. She was an adjunct professor at the University of Chicago, School of Social Work. Currently she is a professor in the PEL, BA program at Eckerd College in St Petersburg. For the past 20years Mrs Pernell-Arnold has provided consulting services on psychiatric rehabilitation services, mental health services, multicultural mental health Services and multicultural organizational development. She has presented at numerous conferences, e.g. IAPSRS/USPRA, National Conference on Race and Ethnicity in Higher Education, Columbia University, Teachers’ College, Winter Roundtable on Cross Cultural Issues, and American Psychiatric Association. Mrs. Pernell-Arnold is an author of several articles and book chapters.

Mrs. Pernell-Arnold is currently the co-investigator for the RRTC research study titled:
"A Randomized Controlled Trial of Inoculation Against Discrimination Training Intervention For African Americans with Psychiatric Disabilities."
