Our Community Integration Issues publications provide important information and resources on specific topic areas that are key to promoting community integration of individuals with psychiatric disabilities.

The CI Issues include the following community integration domains: Employment, Housing, Education, Citizenship, Social Roles, Peer Support, Self-Determination, Health/Wellness, Leisure/Recreation and Spirituality/Religion.

These issues also highlight the following essential areas: the Community Integration Concept and History, legal foundations such as the Americans with Disabilities Act and the Olmstead decision, and environmental barriers to community integration such as Stigma and Discrimination, Language, Transportation, Cultural Competency and Criminal Justice.

The UPENN COLLABORATIVE addresses these CI Issues in a variety of ways:

• Through state-of-the-art research, we identify barriers and develop strategies for promoting community integration, full participation, and recovery of persons with serious mental illnesses.
• Through translation of our research findings – via training, technical assistance and information dissemination - we educate others and foster the development of cutting-edge policies and innovative programs that will promote equal participation at every level of society.
