Improving Definitions of Community Integration: A Cross-Disability Conceptual and Technology Transfer
Issues Community Integration: Concept & History

Description This training defines the disparate factors, research approaches, and model initiatives that comprise community integration and their application to those with psychiatric disabilities.
a) Provides targeted training to the mental health community on research methods, public policies, and support interventions.
b) Provides training to personnel in workforce development and post-secondary education - to assure that persons with psychiatric disabilities can access their programs.

Description Technical assistance and training offered to educate practitioners in the mental health field as well as parents with psychiatric disabilities as to the challenges facing people in maintaining and/or regaining custody of their children; and provides parents with the skills, tools, and resources they require to assure the full utilization of their custody rights.

Promoting the Use of Community Integration Concepts and Instrumentation: Supporting the Use of New Community Integration Instruments

Description Provide support for the use of newly-developed research instruments to assess levels of community integration, leading to further refinement of the instruments for national dissemination.

 

Impact on Olmstead Implementation: Olmstead-Based Technical Assistance to Five States

Description To provide support to people with psychiatric disabilities in 5 states on their rights for community integration within the Olmstead decision and right to participate in the development and implementation process.

 

Improving Employment: Promoting Circles of Support in Supported Employment Settings

Description This training will enhance the capacity of supported employment personnel, first in the State of New Jersey and then nationwide, to develop the knowledge base and skill level required to plan and implement circle of support methodologies that strengthen the capacity of people with psychiatric disabilities to attain and maintain competitive employment.

Promoting Natural Supports: Training on Community Integration and the Use of Natural Supports in Case Management

Description This training provides case managers with stronger competencies in working with persons with psychiatric disabilities to decrease dependence on paid supports and increase self-advocacy and interdependence with natural supports.
